Do I need to know SQL — or anything technical?
No. You ask questions the way you'd ask a colleague. Civalyze writes the SQL for you and always shows it with the answer, so a technical teammate can verify any number without you ever touching a query.
How do I know an answer is actually correct?
Every answer shows the exact SQL it ran and the rows it came from — and it's computed with your definitions from the Data Dictionary and Metrics Library. A technical teammate can verify any number in seconds, and the query runs read-only so nothing can change your data.
Is my data used to train AI models?
Never. Your data is not used to train AI models. Live database connections run read-only, directly against your database — your tables aren't copied to our servers. Files you upload (CSV, Excel, and the like) are stored so we can query them, protected by tenant isolation and encryption at rest.
What does the AI actually see?
Your question, your schema (table and column names), and a small sample of result rows for context — never your full tables. Our AI provider does not train on this data and retains requests only briefly before automatic deletion.
Are you SOC 2 certified?
Not yet — Civalyze is in beta and formal certification is on our roadmap. The platform is engineered with those controls in mind today: encryption at rest and in transit, database-level tenant isolation, role-based access, two-factor authentication, and read-only, validated SQL.
What data can I connect?
PostgreSQL, MySQL, Supabase, and Neon over a read-only connection; Google Sheets as a live link; and CSV, TSV, Excel, JSON, or Parquet as uploads — no database required. BigQuery and Snowflake are on the way.
Can I share dashboards with my team?
Yes. Business plans include team seats with role-based access, and dashboards can be shared internally or published as a public link or PDF export when you want numbers to travel.
What happens when I hit my monthly query limit?
Nothing breaks — your dashboards and saved queries keep working. You just can't ask new AI questions until the month resets or you upgrade, and Civalyze shows you the remaining quota as you go.
Why not just use a free open-source BI tool?
If you have someone to host, model, and maintain it, open-source BI is a fine choice. Civalyze is for teams without that person: connect in about two minutes, ask in plain English, and share dashboards without running servers or writing SQL — the "free" option usually costs days of setup and ongoing upkeep.
Can I try Civalyze before paying?
Yes — early access starts without a credit card. Connect a data source, ask real questions against your own data, and decide from there.
